The Xperia miro is currently not available for pre-order but we think it is just a matter of time before they change the status from Coming Soon to Forthcoming Item and Preorder Now.

Earlier today we updated our post about the latest price rumor and the availability and we were right on the money.

The Sony Xperia miro is finally here but we are a bit disappointed with the pricing because the competition is stiff. Click here to see the comparison.

New: Sony Xperia miro getting ready for India?

Sony Xperia miro

The wait is almost over for the Sony Xperia miro.

Just a few hours ago, Sony updated their website with the status of Xperia miro from Coming Soon to New. Is Sony getting ready to finally release the Sony Xperia miro? This actually comes as no surprise to us from Sony because they did a similar website update to Xperia tipo dual and the Xperia SL exactly last Monday. And as we had reported and expected the Sony Xperia tipo and the Sony Xperia tipo dual both were made available for pre-orders over the week. Unfortunately no word on Xperia SL.

So are we to believe that the Xperia miro will finally be released this week in India and be made available for pre-orders? We sure hope so.

Update 1: We spoke to a few retailers in Mumbai regarding the price and the availability of the Sony Xperia miro and they reluctantly said that the Smartphone will be available by end of September or latest by early October. One of the retailers divulged the details that the internal staff training on the new Xperia miro will begin this week and normally the phone arrives at the store in 2 weeks of the training. But this does not mean that the pre-orders can’t start this week. And what the about the price? All the retailers we spoke to said that they have not been informed about the price yet, but they think that the Sony Xperia miro will be priced between Rs 13,000 – Rs 14,500.

Watch this space.

Update 2: Sony Xperia miro got listed in India on Flipkart at a price of Rs 14499.

Sony Xperia miro – Price, Release Date and Competition

Sony Xperia miro vs Competitors and Rivals

Have you been waiting for the Sony Xperia miro? Rumours surrounding Sony’s Xperia miro may not have reached a fever pitch like the much anticipated iPhone 5 but there is still a small section of the crowd who have been waiting less patiently for it’s arrival in India and it’s official announcement from Sony.

The Sony Xperia miro is a mid-range Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Smartphone featuring a 3.5 inch (320×480) capacitive screen, single-core 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage (2.2GB user available), 5MP rear camera, VGA front-facing snapper and microSD card slot.

Also worth mentioning about the phone is it’s deep Facebook integration, customisable illuminations, DLNA connectivity and Sony’s xLOUD audio technology.

Sony Xperia miro is expected to be released by the 3rd week of September, 2012 with a price tag of Rs. 12,990/-.

While you eagerly await the arrival of Xperia miro, we thought of comparing Sony’s new mid-range challenger to an existing line-up of smart phones in the same price range (more or less).

*Rumored. Price not officially announced by Sony.

We have lined up all the important features and highlighted the best value against each feature across all the mobile phones in a comparison chart. So if you were to treat this chart in a scoring system you could treat each highlighted value as 1 point, total up all the points and you end up with the best mid-range Android Smartphone. But it is not that simple.

Motorola Defy+ comes out on the top on an overall basis but then it lacks a front facing camera, has a smaller screen size when compared to the other 4.0 inch phones and is slight more expensive.

Huawei Ascend G300 is a seriously good smart phone at a great price and is upgradable to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The only thing it lacks just like the Motorola Defy+ is a front facing camera and is a lesser known brand for some people’s comfort.

HTC Desire C lacks in a lot of departments. A slow 600 Mhz processor, no front facing camera, no LED flash, no autofocus and a smaller screen size are enough reasons to move on.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos (I6802) has a similar story. It comes with a 262K colors display, no LED flash, no front facing camera and no Adobe Flash support.

The challenger Sony Xperia miro is the only phone in this line up that offers a front-facing camera (VGA), so buy this one if you plan to make video calls on Skype or over 3G and don’t mind the slightly low-end processor along with a smaller screen size.  What you will also get is the easy connect option to share your photos and videos from your Android phone to your TV via DLNA, unique illumination alerts that notify you of a new SMS or Facebook update, a crisp and loud sound thanks to xLOUD technology and a solid build quality from Sony. Oh! And if you are a social network junkie this one promises a full Facebook integration.
